Kenneth Copeland - Redeemed From Fear and Destruction
Thank You, Lord Jesus. We just praise You and thank You, Father. Holy Spirit, we humble ourselves before You again today. And thank You that You’ve taken me in directions that I didn’t plan to do. And I praise You for that, because You always do that. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Now I’m going to open the book of Job. You don’t need to do that. There is a statement here that I want to read. The book of Job. There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job, and that was a perfect or blameless and upright one that feared God and shewed evil. They were born unto him sons and daughters. Here’s what I want you to get. His substance also was 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 yoke of oxen, 500 she-asses, a very great household… In other words, they had a big house. So that this man was the greatest of all men in the east. Listen to that. 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels. At the end of it, it said, and God doubled him. I’ve heard people say, «Poor is Job’s turkey». Well, he wasn’t poor, and if he had turkeys, he had more than anybody. I wanted to see that, because it’s in the book.
So is it God’s will? Yes, it is… To have more than enough. And the devil sold this to lot of people that preachers ought to be poor. And church members have said, «You keep him humble, we’ll keep him poor». Believe that. I’m thinking of one… I don’t mind telling you who it was, David Crank, Sr., David Crank, Jr., on Victory Channel. His dad had been taught that. But then he began to listen to me on, I think it goes back to radio days. Well, I know it is. He lived below the poverty level. And David Jr. said, «We were eating imaginary… what, imaginary something». He said, «Well, why don’t we eat imaginary steaks»? The last partner, he said, he started in at a dollar a day. And he said, no, no, no, no, no. The Lord said, a dollar a day. You get a dollar somewhere. And David told me, he said, «We were out looking for bottles and stuff».
You know what his last partner check was? $14,000. He was a Job man. Job said, «The thing which I so greatly feared has come upon me». Now, let’s go back where we were. And let’s go back to the book of James where we were last week, because this goes right into this again. Praise God. Now, you know who James was, right? He’s Jesus' half brother. They thought he was crazy. And he was writing this to the other Jews. But here we are. James chapter 1, 1 through 7. James, a servant of God and the Lord Jesus Christ through the 12 tribes which are scattered abroad greeting. My brethren counted all joy when you fall into different temptations, tests, and trials, knowing this, that the trying of your faith works patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that you may be mature and entire wanting nothing.
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not for it shall be given him. Let him ask in faith. So remember what we said. Faith is the catalyst. Have any of you ever used any catalyst like an adhesive? Oh… That stuff is strong. It comes in two little tubes. You don’t want to get these things mixed up till it’s time. And then when it’s time, I’m telling you, you better hustle. And you lay out this because I misused it at a time or two. Pour this, it doesn’t do anything. Pour this, it doesn’t do anything. Put them together, and then they begin to get hot. They begin to get, I’m telling you, you better get the material together and get it, and hold it, and then let me see you pull it apart. So that’s faith.
Now, we read that. Now go to chapter 5, 11, 10, Take my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord for an example of suffering, affliction, and patience. Now patience is not…Oh, I got to put up with this. No, no, check it out. It is endurance. It’s part of the fruit of the Spirit. It is endurance. Now listen, Behold, we count them happy that endure. You have heard of the patience of Job and have seen the end of the Lord, and that the Lord was pitiful and tender mercy, and above all things, my brethren, you see where he referred to Job, Above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth.
Now, chapter 5, okay, 11, Is any among you afflicted? Let him pray. Is any merry? Let him sing songs. Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church. Let him pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, in the name of the Lord. Well, he just started out over here explaining who the Lord is, and I give my testimony. The prayer of faith shall save the sick, or heal the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up, and if he’s committed sin, shall be forgiven him, confess your faults. One another, the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Oh, come on, come on, come on. Oh, there, okay. The effectual prayer. Thank You, Jesus. You can tell that the Lord just dumped this on me last night late. I just really didn’t have time to get it all together, but I’ll be there, and that was, oh, I’m looking at it wrong.
The prayer of faith shall save the sick, and that is 5:15. Confess your sins one to another, and pray for another that you may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Classic Amplified. The prayer that is of faith will save him who is sick, and the Lord will restore him, and if he have committed sin, they will be forgiven him. Confess to one another therefore your faults, your slips, your false steps, your offenses, your sins, and pray also for one another that you may be healed and restored to a spiritual tone of mind and alert. The earnest, heartfelt, continued prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available, dynamic in its working. My testimony now. Right here, you can’t see it from where you are.
There was a little spot there about the size of a grain of rice. I looked at that thing, what that is, and I went back and looked at broadcast before, and then I saw it, we were at the prayer cabin. Well, so I was talking to Dr. Weeter, and he said, «We need to get that thing checked». So I went over to Dr. Williams, and he’s a black man, and he just had one of those voices that’s kind of delicious, you know. Yeah. Oh, fine looking man. I shook hands with him. I’m Kenneth Copeland. He said, «Brother Copeland, I know who you are. My mom and dad have been partners in your ministry for years». We picked the right man. So he looked at that, and he said, yeah. Brother Copeland, he said, I think I know what that is, but I want to send you over to a colleague of mine and let him check it.
Boy, it just… And a colleague looked at it, and he said, «Well, Mr. Copeland, it’s malignant». What so what? It absolutely had no effect or fear in me. It’s malignant. So he said, «Come back at this certain day» and then. Now, in the meantime, I call Pastor George, Terri, and Bebe. John and Kellie were on the phones. He came in my kitchen. I showed it to him, and so we turned here. So he had his oil bottle, and he would read all of these and touch that. I’m telling you, class, it felt like he just suddenly touched my hand with an electrical shock, and that’s what I did. I said, «That did it».
So we went back where we were supposed to go. Mr. Copeland, wait here, and you may be 30 minutes to who knows an hour. Because the doctor’s going to go in there, and he’s going to shave down until he finds no more malignant cell. So I sat there for a few minutes. She came back in. She said, «Mr. Copeland, you’re very lucky». I said, «No, I’m blessed». She said, «Dr. found no more malignant cell». Sewed it up. Now, I know where it is, and I can see the little scar right here. Jesus, my testimony. It’ll work anywhere because it’s in the book. So how much time do I have, Tim? Sir? Okay, good.
Now, look in the fourth chapter. From whence come wars and fightings among you. They not hence event your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have, not you kill and desire to have and cannot obtain. Now, I want to come over here, and I want to go to… Oh, yeah. Go back to the second chapter of James. My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, in the respect of persons. Now, here’s where I’m going. Verse 12. No, excuse me, back up. Verse 25. Whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continues therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. If any man among them seem religious and bridal not the tongue, strife.
Anyway, now, here’s where I want to go. Verse 14. What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister be naked in destitute of the daily food, and one of you say unto them, depart in peace, be you warmed and filled, notwithstanding you give those things which are needful, what doth it profit? Even so, faith, if it hath not… Let’s stop right there. Francis Weymouth. Even so, if faith, if it hath not corresponding action, don’t you like that? It has corresponding action, it being dead, being alone. Class, you understand that? Corresponding action.
Now, we go back to what we talked about last week, the joy of the Lord. You remember what we said? Faith prepares before it goes. So apply that. Jesus knew what he was going to… They did. Found him clothed and in his right mind. So what was that? Jesus, corresponding action, and told Judas, go get this man some clothes. Remember that phrase, corresponding action. It’s right here in the book of James, if you just spot it. And 21, Be a part of filthiness, superfluity of naughtiness, and receive in meekness, in the grafted word, which is able to save your souls.
Now, what does that say? It’s able to save your mind, your will, and your emotions. And so many, myself also. Well, just keep them from going to hell. No, no, no, no, no. The mind, the will, and the emotions. First Thessalonians, the apostle Paul pointed it out. Now, I’m going to suggest to you again, you get the BLB, the Blue Letter Bible, and you can choose different translations in there. Oh, I use mine. And so I support them financially. You see what the Hebrew meant and said, hallelujah. Thank You, Jesus.
So, four minutes. Now, correction, direction, protection, perfection, correction, and direction. Now, that immediately says something to me as a pilot. You have surface winds, altitude winds, jet stream winds. And now I’m talking about back before satellites. It’s simple now. Thanks to Thomas McGee, Clyde McGee, he and his wife, he was called Mr. Satellite. Born again, tongue talking, Pentecostal Christian, called Mr. Satellite because he synced that first one with the earth, 24,000 miles away. You like the satellite in your car? Well, the next time you do it, you say, «Thank you, Thomas». So, but I’m flying in this direction. I don’t know. I know exactly where I’m going. I’ve exactly planned my flight plan. I’ll just close this right here. And I just stay on it. But I go to crosswind. And I don’t recognize it. Didn’t plan for it. But I got my heading right. What’s the matter here? What’s the matter here?
Let me tell you a true story. Because I was part of it. That’s when I was working for Beechcraft there. Here’s a man and his wife in the front seat. And they’re good friends in the back. And now, of course, a Bonanza won’t fly that high. But this is an absolute… not paying any attention to what he was doing. He was talking to the people in the back seat. He’s not a pro. Good pilot, but he’s not a pro. It’s winter. And he turned around and looked and there’s a little red light blinking here. I’m on battery power. Wasn’t paying any attention to what he was doing. I’ve only about… Didn’t know where checklist was.
So I don’t know how far I’ve drifted. See, he drifted. There was a crosswind. He didn’t know it. So he wasn’t making any corrections. And so he just said, «Well, we need to get out from here». It’s wintertime. And he invited me. I was part of this. How much time? Good. So he started letting down. He came between layers. And he said, oh, good. And it came to… Oh, oh, good. Between layers. But he didn’t know he had drifted over into the mountains. And what he thought was between layers, that airplane hit the trees, clipped a wingtip, and swung it around backwards.
And all four of them slid down the side of that mountain in that Beach Bonanza sliding down there. And when it finally stopped, can you see it didn’t kill anybody? But I flew an F model bonanza there to meet him, to replace it. No correction. And he just sat down and it happened, and sitting there, looked around in a red light blinking. He should have been up here like this and let them talk. And we’re out of time. But there was no correction. He didn’t have any idea where he was. That’ll kill you. It’s a miracle of God that didn’t kill all four. We’ll be back in just a moment.
