Andrew Wommack - God Wants You Well - Part 32
Welcome to our Tuesday’s broadcast of The Gospel Truth. Today I am nearing an end to my teaching on healing. I know some of you thought that this would never come. This is now my seventh week of teaching, and I could actually go a lot longer. We’ve got all of these materials here. I actually had my staff put a little post it note on here because I keep forgetting what to call this, but this is an mp3 flash drive that has 43 hours' worth of teaching on healing related subjects and so, there is a lot here that I could just keep talking, but we’ve spent, this is now into my seventh week of teaching and so I’m going to wind this down.
This coming Friday will be my last day to make all of these offers available, and I tell you, this is a powerful subject. You need to understand this, for yourself and for other people, and we have just been sharing things that I can guarantee you are making a difference in the lives of people. I really believe that through teaching on this during these nearly two months that I’ve been on this on television: I believe that there have been thousands and thousands of people healed all around the world. You know, we recently had a men’s advance at our facility in Woodland Park, our new auditorium and classroom space that we built up there, and I had a man come to me and he shared with me a testimony about he was looking, I think, for a sporting event or something and he was just flipping through the channels.
He saw me, he listened, and I was teaching on speaking to your mountain, some of the things that I’ll be teaching this week, and it so impressed him, he went to his wife and she had arthritis. She was in bed and she could hardly stand. She could stand, but I mean, was just in terrible pain, could hardly move around, and he said, you’ve got to hear this. So, they went to my web site and they pulled up that teaching that he had listened to: he and his wife both listened to it about how we have authority, how you can speak to your mountain, and after they watched it, they were both just really built up in faith, they joined hands, they prayed, they rebuked that arthritis.
He said he didn’t see any visible results, but he told his wife, stand up, and she didn’t really want to stand up because it was so painful, but he said, you’ve got to believe and act on this, and so she started trying to stand up, and I mean, she just, boom, jumped straight up in the air, started lifting her arms, jumping up and down, got so excited that, she was in her nightclothes and she ran out of the house down the steps that she couldn’t maneuver before and ran out in the yard, started praising God. Her husband was so overwhelmed with the power of God that he fell flat on his face on the floor and he was just laying there on the floor and the woman after a moment or so, she came running back in the house, came up the stairs, ran in the house, saw her husband laying on the floor and she thought he had had a heart attack.
She went over and started ministering to him and they were just praising God, and that had been a year ago and I think it was, he gave me the date, I think it was like January the 7th, 2013 or something like that, or maybe 2012, and she’s been totally normal ever since, and you know what, I believe that that same thing is happening in people all around the world as they discover these truths. I’m excited. I know that there are thousands, maybe tens of thousands of people who are receiving healing just through the Word of God. Yesterday I started talking about that there are laws that govern how healing works, how faith works, how the kingdom works. In the same way that there are physical natural laws that we’ve learned to cooperate with and if you violate them, it’s at your own peril.
Likewise in the spiritual realm, there are spiritual laws that govern the Kingdom of God and how healing works. If you violate natural laws, if you go around a corner, say, too fast, did you know there’s this law of inertia that a body in motion tends to stay in motion and stuff and you try and turn too fast and I guarantee you, that inertia is going to cause you to have a wreck to go off the road, it could kill you, it’s going to cause problems, and we understand this and so we learn how to cooperate with these natural laws. We put signs up, you know, that here’s a safe speed to go around this corner because there are just natural laws. You can’t take a 90 degree corner at 100 and something miles an hour. It just doesn’t work that way.
We understand this in the natural realm, but in the spiritual realm, we just continue to go in unbelief, we continue to operate in unforgiveness and bitterness and we poison ourself with our own words and on and on, all of these things and we don’t understand that those are spiritual things that affect the Kingdom of God and how the power of God operates, and people are just ignorant of this. If a person goes around a corner too fast and has a wreck, nobody gets mad at God and thinks, why did God do this? But in the spiritual realm, they think, well, why didn’t God heal this person, and they’re totally ignorant of the fact that there are spiritual laws.
Did you know when we had a plane crash here in the Colorado springs area. I couldn’t even tell you, this has been 15-20 years ago or something like that and this plane was banking to come in for a landing and all of a sudden it just nose dived straight into the ground and actually accelerated and there were just, I mean, there was hardly anything left of that plane. It killed every person on board and of course, they had the FAA come in and start doing research to try and find out what it was that caused this, and I mean, they spent over a year just analyzing every single little piece of information that they could get, and after a year, they came to the conclusion that they didn’t know why it happened.
They figured it could have been a wind shear. They gave a couple of possible explanations, but they didn’t know why it happened, but they never doubted the laws. They never said, well, gravity just all of a sudden spiked and it became ten times what it normally was. They never came up with the fact that the laws of thrust and lift didn’t work. See, there are certain things that are laws and you don’t, when you try and figure out why something happened, you may not be able to come up with an answer, but you never sit there and say, well, gravity just increased times ten or whatever. No, these are laws, they’re constant. You know, when you use the word law to describe gravity, that means that it works the same way anywhere in the world. The same law of gravity works in China, works in the United States, works in Brazil, works in Africa, works in Europe, works anywhere.
If it only worked in one spot or if it fluctuated, then it wouldn’t be a law. The very fact that you use the term law, means it’s constant, means that it’s universal. It happens to everybody the exact same way. If it’s not constant and if it’s different for different people, then it’s not a law, it’s a phenomenon, it’s an exception, it’s an anomaly, but when you use the term law, that means that it’s constant. It’s always the same. You can’t violate it, and when you try and figure out why some plane crashed or why something happened, you don’t ever doubt the laws. But see, in the spiritual realm, people don’t have this concept and so if somebody dies who was believing for healing, they think, well, just, you know, there aren’t any laws. It must just be that God chose not to heal them. No, there are reasons. You may not know what they are, but I can guarantee you, there are laws that govern faith.
I used that verse in Romans 3:27 yesterday that, there is a law of faith, and whether you know these laws or not doesn’t mean that they don’t exist. I used the example yesterday that electricity has existed since God created the heavens and the earth, but man was ignorant of those laws and because of it, they didn’t take advantage of it, but the laws were there. There are laws of healing and because of ignorance on the believer’s parts, there’s many people that don’t take advantage of healing, but there are still laws that govern it and control it and if you are ignorant of them, it just means that you aren’t going to receive the benefit, but you can be healed by spiritual law. Let me use an example in scripture to show you this.
This is in Mark, chapter 5, and this is talking about where a man, Jairus, came to Jesus. He was the ruler of the synagogue and he wanted Jesus to come heal his daughter because she was on her death bed, and so he said he would go with him, and it says in Mark, chapter 5, and in verse 24, Jesus went with him: and much people followed him, and thronged him. Now, that’s important this word «Thronged». That means that they weren’t just a lot of people around him who accidentally bumped into him, these people were thronging him. That means they were reaching out and grabbing for him, trying to touch him because there had been previous examples of where virtue had flown out of Jesus into people and so everybody was touching him trying to grab hold of this power and anointing that was on Jesus' life.
They were pressing in upon him, and it says in the next verse, verse 25, «And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, and had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse». You know, before I go on and read the rest of this, let me just say that this woman had suffered for many years, had spent all of her living on this and wasn’t any better and yet grew worse. Did you know that this describes many people today who’ve done everything in the medical, natural realm that they can do and people will sit there and encourage them to do that. I mean, it’s expensive to take some of these treatments.
There are people that literally, their entire life savings are gone, they’ve lost their house, they’ve lost everything that they have and yet people will encourage them to spend any amount of money, to go through all of these treatments, which I mean, sometimes I believe that medical treatments are just barbaric. If the Lord tarries and 100 years from now if people are still here and we haven’t been taken to heaven and the Lord’s instituted the New Heaven and the earth, if things are still going the way that they are 100 years from now, people will look back at 2014 and they will say, man, how barbaric were these treatments that they would cut out parts of the body, that they would radiate people, that they would give them all of this chemotherapy and stuff and there was, you know, I think that what we think right now is such great technology, 100 years from now people are going to look back and think, man, those people were barbaric.
Why in the world would they submit to those kind of treatments? This is what this woman went through, and did you know people will encourage you to do that, but I can guarantee you, when she started trying to believe for healing by faith, some of these people that would encourage her to spend all of your money, let them treat you bad, man, just go through things, make you sick, do all of these terrible things, people who would have condoned that will sit there and ridicule you for trying to believe God for healing. I know that’s true. I’ve seen it happen many times. I’m telling you that you ought to be just as persistent and committed to pursuing healing from God as you are through all of these other means that just do terrible things to your body, cost you all of your money, make you sick, decrease the quality of your life.
If people would be that committed to finding God’s answer as they are for looking for something in the natural, we would have a lot more people healed. Anyway, I could preach on that for a while, but I just wanted to point that out before we went on. In the next verse, verse 27, it says, «When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. For she said, if I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up: and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, who touched my clothes? And his disciples said unto him, thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, who touched me? And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. And he said unto her, daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole: go in peace, and be whole of thy plague».
Now, I’m going to come back and analyze this and break this down and look at some of these things, but one of the main things I want you to see is that this woman came up, touched the hem of his garment, and virtue, power flowed out of Jesus and, boom! Just like that, she was healed and Jesus didn’t know who touched him. He says, who touched my clothes? Now again, I have to counter some religious tradition here because there’s so many people that think, well Jesus was God. God knows all things and so this was a rhetorical question. Of course, he knew who touched him, of course he knew everything. But you know, I don’t believe that that’s so. In Luke, chapter 2, verse 52 it says, Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature, and in favor with God and man.
Jesus was God at birth. In his spirit he was God manifest in a physical body, but it was a physical body. It was a sinless physical body, but it was physical, and Jesus when he came out of his mother’s womb was not speaking Hebrew. He didn’t already know how to walk and talk and do all of these things. He was born a little baby and his body had to increase in wisdom and in stature. He had to learn things. In the spirit Jesus was God, but he had a physical body. It wasn’t sinful, but it was a physical body and he had limitations to that physical body. He did not have eyes in the back of his head. This woman came up from the behind, touched his garment, and when she did, the power flowed, he discerned the power and the anointing of God flowing out of him, but he didn’t know who it was that touched him.
Now, this is significant because one of the things it does is show you that God doesn’t just take our request for healing and then look at us, size us up, evaluate us, and say, well, you’re worthy of healing, you’ve met the criteria. You aren’t worthy: I won’t heal you until you beg more, until you do this. See, that’s the way that most people think, that it’s just totally up to God. In a sense, they envision this huge desk in heaven and all of these millions of prayer requests come by and God has to put approved or disapproved stamp it, upon every request and it’s just totally up to how God’s feeling at the moment as to whether or not people receive. I’m trying to teach that there are laws that govern healing.
And see, this illustrates it because this woman, Jesus didn’t know who she was. He didn’t size her up, he didn’t see her coming. He felt the virtue flow out of him, but he said, who touched me? And this shows that, see, if you make a right connection, the power of God will flow. It’s not up to God personally deciding that, yes, I’ll heal you, I love you so much. No, I won’t heal you because I don’t love you as much. Now see, that’s the conclusion that people come to, but that’s not so. It’s very similar to, if you walk up and pick up a live wire. If you could imagine, you know, an electrical wire with no insulation on it, just laying on the ground, and if you walk up and touch that, if you’re grounded, I guarantee you, that electricity will flow through you and it will shock you, possibly kill you, and it’s not the electric company that personally decided that they were going to teach you a lesson or make an example out of you and so they sent this shock.
No, they generate the power and there are laws that govern it and if somebody violates those laws, if this wire is where people can touch it, if it doesn’t have insulation on it and stuff like this, there are just natural laws, that you touch a live wire and if you’re grounded, that power will flow and it wasn’t personal. It’s not the electric company trying to make an example out of you. There’s just laws that govern how electricity works and if you violate them, you could be shocked or killed.
Likewise, there are laws that if you don’t cooperate with them, you could have a wire, but if it’s not hooked into anything, you know, you could have a electrical cord to an appliance like a vacuum cleaner and you can sit there and you can run that vacuum cleaner, you can push the switch all you want to, you can move it, you can hit it, you can pray over it, you can do anything you want to, but if it’s not plugged in to the outlet, there’s not going to be any electricity flowing through it and you can sit there and say, well, these things, these vacuum cleaners just don’t work. No, the vacuum cleaner works just fine. You just aren’t plugged into the power source. You’ve got to make that connection.
Likewise, there’s people who will sit here and they will take something I say or somebody else and they’ll go through the motions, but they haven’t made the connection yet. They aren’t plugged into the power source, and they’ll sit there and say, well, healing doesn’t work. Why doesn’t it work? Well, because I’ve tried it and it didn’t work. Well, that’s like a person saying, I tried to use this vacuum sweener and nothing would happen. It’s because you never plugged it in. It’s because you never made the connection. I’m telling you, healing works every single time that people work it. Every time that people cooperate with these laws, the healing power of God will flow.
Man, that’s awesome. To me this just is powerful. One of the applications of this is that I’ve prayed for people and didn’t see them healed, and you know, at first, you look at something and the scripture says, 1 Samuel, chapter 16, verse 7, that man looks on the outward appearance, but God looks on the heart. From our perspective, just looking at things on the outside, there are times that I’ve thought this person did everything that they were supposed to do in order to be healed and yet they didn’t get healed, they died. And so, from my perspective, it just looks like, man, it didn’t work, but based on what the Word of God says that there are laws that govern it, there is always a reason. I may not know what it is, but there is a reason that prohibited God from doing what he wanted to do in that person’s life. You know, I can tell you about some of these.
Now, I still have unanswered experiences where I don’t understand, but I remember this one guy in particular, long story, but he was on his death bed. I went over and ministered to this guy every day for months and I saw him get to where, he couldn’t even hold a phone, he couldn’t eat, he just barely could whisper, and I saw him get to where he could walk, he could eat, he was driving a car, he was doing really good, and I mean, he was just getting better and better and better. There was evidence of God’s healing power being in his body, but then he just took a turn for the worse and boom, I mean, he died.
And at his funeral everybody was perplexed and again, looking at things from only the outside, looking on the outside, we just thought, well, he had done everything right, he was saying the right things, but I just knew in my heart, I said, this guy, somewhere, I didn’t know this for sure, but just by Revelation of God, I said, this man somewhere just gave up and quit resisting and he accepted his death, not that that’s a terrible thing because if the Lord tarries, we’re all going to die, but I’m saying, he just quit believing, and on the outside, it looked like he didn’t, but I just knew that in my heart.
After he died, his wife found his diary and on a certain day he wrote that he knew he could get healed, he was getting better day by day, but it was such an effort, he was like 70 something years old and he said, I’m tired, I think I’m just going to go home and be with the Lord, but he said, I know people won’t understand this and so rather than tell them, I’m going to continue to say, by his stripes I’m healed, I believe I’m getting better and all of this, but he says, in my heart I’m ready and I just quit, and he says, I’ll die.
And so see, if he hadn’t have written that down, he would have died and taken that secret with him and everybody would have looked at that and thought, well, you know, sometimes it’s just not God’s will to heal. But no, there are laws that govern healing. As long as he cooperated with those laws, he was getting better and stronger every single day, but when he in his heart decided to quit and just give up and go home, not saying that that’s sin, but that was his choice. When he chose to do that, well then, this sickness came back with a vengeance and he died, and if he hadn’t have left that written record, we wouldn’t have known it. But I’m telling you, whether you understand it or not, if people don’t manifest a healing, there is a reason for it. We may not know what those reasons are, but it’s just like this instance is describing.
This woman came and just touched the hem of Jesus' garment, she didn’t make a request, Jesus didn’t evaluate her, Jesus didn’t say, man, your faith is strong: I’m going to release healing. It’s just laws. If you reach out in faith, boom, the power of God is going to flow, and Jesus didn’t even know who it was that touched him. To me that illustrates that faith is governed by law, that healing flows through laws. You connect with those laws, and boom, his power flows. You don’t connect with them, whether it’s through ignorance or rebellion or whatever, if you aren’t cooperating with the laws of God, the healing power of God will not flow. It’s that simple, and so this week I’m talking about the laws of faith and sharing with you what some of these laws are. We’ll get into that more in our program tomorrow.
